Abstract

Infectious diseases are diseases caused by the entry and proliferation of microorganisms. One of the bacteria that can cause infection is Staphylococcus aureus. So far, Chinese ketepeng (Cassia alata L.) has been widely used traditionally, including as an antiparasitic, laxative, ringworm, scabies, tinea versicolor, malaria, constipation, ulcerative skin inflammation, syphilis, herpes, influenza and bronchitis. P The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial power of Chinese ketepeng leaf extract against the growth of Methicilin-Resistant Staphylococus aureus bacteria. The study was conducted experimentally with the samples used in this study were Chinese ketepeng leaves which were tested on Methicilin-Resistant Staphylococus aureus bacteria with 3 treatments (50%, 75% and 100%), positive control chloramphenicol 30 ug/ml. Extraction is done by maceration method. Testing the antibacterial power of the test bacteria using the disc and well diffusion method.

The results in this study obtained an antibacterial inhibition zone in the Chinese ketepeng leaf extract of 0.00 mm. Which means that the results of the study of the antibacterial power of Chinese ketepeng leaves were not able to inhibit Methicilin-Resistant Staphylococus aureus bacteria.
